Back in January we wrote about a number of Fair Work Act changes that are progressively being rolled out.
One of the items we wrote about was the changes to the rules surrounding fixed term employment contracts.
From the 6th of December 2023, new rules apply when engaging employees on fixed term contracts.
These new rules include:
- a requirement for employers to give employees they’re engaging on a new fixed term contract a Fixed Term Contract Information Statement (FTCIS); and
- Limiting the duration of the contract and the ability to extend and/or renew the contract.
